"I don't think I deserve some of the things that happen to me, you know. Do you?"
In a private grammar school in Stockport, Manchester, seven students are a month away from their final exams. Underneath the romcom-esque surface of Oxbridge aspirations, high school crushes, and common room banter, there simmers a far more dangerous story. As the exams approach and the pressure builds, the group interactions become sharper and more tense, as the students bully each other, lash out, stand by helplessly and ultimately, push back.
Stephens himself rightly describes this piece as "the History Boys on crack" so if you swore you never wanted to relive Year 12, you're going to want to make an exception for this one.
"The piece is gripping, shocking and ferociously funny as anxieties jitter, hormones fizz and misery festers in the library of a Stockport private school"
