PRESIDENT: ALICE STAFFORD (she/her)
Since stepping into the dank, dark space that is the Cellar Theatre in Welcome Week 2019 as a frightened first year … I have not left. Hello! I’m Alice, your President! I’ve been involved in over ten SUDS shows and attended more than 40 bump ins/outs. If you want to find me in a GM, you’ll be able to spot my head above the crowd or my feet on a ladder as I admire the lighting (please let me teach you lighting design xx). I think I am studying International & Global Studies, but a compulsory exchange and international travel bans have proven to be a tricky combo. Pop culture references will probably leave me lost, but if you have seen Cats the movie (twice) … we’ll get along.
You can find me: ‘studying’ at Courtyard or meandering through Newtown whilst eating a slice of sticky date cake from Corellis (try it.)
Talk to me about: your SUDS passions, queries, theories! I want to know it all!!! And help make your SUDS experience just as fulfilling as mine!
VICE PRESIDENT: ISLA MOWBRAY (she/her)
When you first walk into the Cellar Theatre (the homeland of SUDS) you wouldn’t immediately think that this damp black box theatre has seen the creation of some of most inventive, wacky and wonderful pieces of theatre. But it has. Uni is a big intimidating place but SUDS , for myself and many others , has offered a safe creative alcove where ideas and passions are brought to life. Groups of people come together and work intensely for a month or two on a show. After working on a few shows I’ve had this sense of how fleeting working on it feels. The permanence of what we create slips away after the final performance and for me it’s this aspect which charges the rehearsals and moments on stage with a certain excited urgency. I’ve worked on shows (mainly as an actor) since my first year of uni in 2019 and am always down for a chat about theatre and life in general! I’m excited to meet you this year.
You can find me at: in The Cellar or on the lawns outside The Cellar.
Talk to me about: about theatre, politics, your creative ideas/ projects, what you think the world needs more of, books and cake (I love cake)!
TREASURER: ABI COFFEY (she/her)
Hi, I’m Abi !! I am a third year media communications and marketing student who talks a lil too much. I have been in SUDS for the past two years and have acted in two shows and costume designed two others. I am a lover of socialising and theatre.
You can find me at: OOO at uni, you’ll most likely find me around courtyard demolishing a pizza and ice chocolate or in ABS! Outside Uni, you’ll find me in a shopping centre, a theatre or a Japanese restaurant.
Talk to me about: anything!! But more specifically, Hong Kong, skiing, new theatre, fashion, new stores, media, switched at birth (niche) and yourself, would love to get to know you!!
SECRETARY: PRATHA NAGPAL (she/her)
Hello babes!! I’m Pratha, your Secretary, and am currently obsessed with the memes Kimmi sends! I’ve been involved in SUDS for two years now and done all kinds of roles from directing, assistant producing, acting and set designing! I guess you can say I love theatre! I’m also doing law and I hate it here so if you wanna have a chat about that hmu xx
You can find me at: Courtyard or the dirty black box that we call the Cellar xx
Talk to me about: literally anything I love talking way too much! (it’s a problem) But also if you have any cellar bookings/ SUDS related questions feel free to message me!
CELLAR OFFICER: KIMMI TONKIN (she/her)
hi !! your resident meme queen here, Kimmi, a full time second year architecture student and hot mess. I haven't been around SUDS for long, only being involved in 5 shows thus far, on both the production and acting side. I don't know much about anything, but I do know I love theatre!
You can find me at: The Wilkinson Building across City Road, but give me any excuse to leave the architecture building and I’ll come join you in Courtyard for a coffee x
Talk to me about: anything !! but my specialties lie in memes, dogs, fashion and architecture (if I have to).
CELLAR OFFICER: ANNIE FRASER (she/her)
I am a second (?) year sociology (?) student, who doesn’t really know what I’m doing, but I pretend like I do! I live and breathe theatre so if you ask me what I do outside of it, I will struggle to answer! I also love exclamation points!
You can find me: lying on grass on the quad photosynthesising (but on a blanket because I’m allergic to grass).
Talk to me about: crystals, energies, birth charts, tattoo artists on Instagram, the TikTok algorithm.
social secretary: madhullikka singh (she/her)
Ello Luvs, my name’s a tongue twister so you can practice it before performances and if you come up with a cool nickname dm me. I’m studying theatre performance and international & global studies. I like to break into random twerks and if I like you I may give you a booty smack too. But apart from being highkey inappropriate I enjoy all things theatre. I love encouraging people to immerse themselves in all forms of creative expression. On stage is where I feel my best and offstage is where I annoy everyone else.
You can find me at: I don’t want to be found.
Talk to me about: your dog, your cat, your bird, (I draw the line at fish), personality types, sun signs, food, how you’re actively working on healing your trauma and loving yourself.
SOCIAL SECRETARY: OLIVER DURBIDGE (he/him)
I’m relatively new to SUDS but I’ve been acting in theatre since the age of 5! I’m studying Film Studies and Visual Arts, so I’m an artsy boy, and I am constantly watching movies. Last year I logged 300 films on letterboxd (send me your username, I’ll follow you) and this year I’m aiming for at least 350. I’m very passionate about student/amateur theatre, it’s been my entire life, and I’m super keen to run some events and bring as many people into SUDS as possible!
You can find me: Probably watching a movie somewhere.
Talk to me about: What your favourite movie is, What comics you’re reading, the latest MCU show on Disney+, The Son of the Mask (2005).
PUBLICITY OFFICER: HADDIE DAVIES (she/her)
I joined the society during the bless’d year of the pandemic and resultingly my suds experience stacks up to a whopping two and a half shows, but don't let that make you underestimate my passion. Ever since directing my friends around my living room as a 7 year old, I’ve been pretty obsessed with this stuff. I promise I’m not more into film than theatre (well maybe) but I am indeed a film studies student, so don't be surprised if you find me roping you into acting in an amateur film or two of mine this year. Graphic design was the other life I might have had — I’m channelling all of that into SUDS publicity.
You can find me: wandering down Kings street every second day...
Talk to me about: music. Listening to it. Making it. Starting a band…?
PUBLICITY OFFICER: MILLY KYNASTON (she/her)
You’re watching a SUDS show and you hear a distant twinkling over the speaker ... a thunderstorm ... a Nigella and Jamie Oliver baking innuendo sexscape ... a dog eating a corpse ... that’s me baby! I’ve done Sound Design for 6 SUDS shows since joining last year and have adored every moment. When I’m not curled up in The Cellar tech box death staring QLab, I’m racing to the end of my Art History and Media degree or adding an unnecessary amount of stickers to the SUDS Insta story✨
You can find me at: Sappho Books Café in Glebe procrastinating over a Chai Latte (the superior drink, come and fight me on this) or crying on a Law Library table next to the wall because I am what? A nerd.
Talk to me about: dogs, drag, or anything about art! Your favourite work? Artist? Gallery? I wanna know!
FESTIVALS OFFICER: DANNY CABUBAS (she/her)
Heya! Danny here, and I just wanna say that the mysterious figure you saw skulking around the Cellar Theatre was *probably* me (but don’t hold me to that the Cellar Ghost is VERY real). I’ve been part of SUDS since 2019 and the Cellar’s become somewhat of a second home to me. I’ve acted in 2 shows, done costume for 1 and also written my own Summer Season show! Due to this I spend more time doing drama stuff than working on my actual arts degree (in English and film so hmu if you have good taste and agree that Cars (2005) is a masterpiece).
You can find me at: The Cellar (duh), Courtyard Cafe (I will live and die for their iced chais), and Fisher Library (hopefully where I’ll be studying).
Talk to me about: anime (I’m also the resident SUDS weeb whoops), FNAF Game Theory videos, TikTok, music (especially One Direction), and basically any random stuff tbh I’d love to hear about it!
ARCHIVIST: MARLOW HURST (he/him)
Ahoy hoy! Marlow reporting for duty. I’ve been a member of SUDS since ~the beginning~ (a claim which I think you’ll find is supported by our archival records) and in that time I’ve managed to play two stiff, emotionless British characters and lose the race for SUDS treasurer twice. What can I say, I'm a dreamer!
You can find me at: trapped in the archives choking on the thick layer of dust that we in the profession call history, asking people if their plays are funny at GMs, and definitely not engaging in embezzlement!
Talk to me about: fantasy and sci-fi, tabletop games, (video) games, Agatha Christie, anime (but our Festivals Officer will probably know more), and Honi Soit (the greatest student newspaper in the known universe).
