SUDS X POC Revue Rough Cuts

When: Tuesday August 15th, 7pm
Where: The Cellar Theatre

What is Rough Cuts?
A SUDS tradition, Rough Cuts is an open mic night any and all the opportunity to perform a short piece of their choice. Perform anything and everything! From prepared songs, to monologues, to old powerpoints from school! It’s a very low-stakes environment. This Rough Cuts will be in collaboration with POC Revue as a part of our POC workshops week, running from August 15th to 19th featuring a range of POC artists hosting workshops on their experience with a variety of production roles available in SUDS.

What is POC Revue?
People of Colour (PoC) Revue is an autonomous society and a found family for PoC-identifying creatives with a love of performing arts, laughter, and embracing cultural identities. Always aiming high to provide opportunities for creatives of colour, we're excited to bring a night of spontaneity, showmanship and culture alongside SUDS!

Raising money for Deadly Connections
This Rough Cuts, in collaboration with POC Revue, is raising money for Deadly Connections, a not for profit organisation aimed at intervening on the intergenerational disadvantages faced by First Nations peoples, through supporting First Nations communities and providing consultancy services on child protection and the justice system. You can find out more at https://deadlyconnections.org.au/about-us/ and donate through the donate button on this link: https://deadlyconnections.org.au/

We will be writing up the amount that we raise, so please show us your receipts at the door if you donate!

Sign up is on the night - you can approach either Tom or Mali before the start of Rough Cuts or during the intermission we have between performances. Snacks will be provided!

Any questions? Feel free to message the SUDS account, Mali Lung, Tom Findlay (SUDS Social Secretaries 2023), or Luna Ng (SUDS Festivals Officer 2023), or simply send us an email at sudsthewash@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing you there!

DIRECTIONS:
The Cellar can be found on Science Road: find the Host Co. sign, directly across from the carpark. There is a path to the left of the sign and the stairs that will take you under an archway. Follow that path and you’ll arrive!

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY:
SUDS acknowledges that the University of Sydney and the Cellar Theatre reside on stolen land; the land of the Gadigal people of the Eora nation. As a society that exists to tell stories, it is important to acknowledge that stories were being told on this land for thousands of years before British colonisation. SUDS pays respect to elders past and present. Sovereignty was never ceded – Always Was, Always Will Be Aboriginal Land.
