Event Details:

Everyone is welcome! In Week 3 of Semester 2, SUDS is facilitating a number of production workshops led by POC creatives and theatremakers. SUDS is invested in the elevation of POC and marginalised voices and experiences in theatre. Our workshops will be run by a collection of old friends and new friends. SUDS Alumni and theatre professionals will speak to their experiences as creatives of colour. We will also have a short discussion at the end of each workshop to discuss the experiences and challenges POC creatives have been facing in theatre and how we can better navigate a safe space for everyone.

Have you ever wanted to apply to costume design for a show but was hesitant because you do not know much about the production role? Rachel Hui is a SUDS alumni who has been doing costume design for SUDS shows, independent theatre company productions, and also has experience in other theatrical productions within the field. In this workshop, Rachel will be talking about some basic theoretical and practical skills in costume designing and will provide some tips for interviewing for a costume designer/ assistant role for future production opportunities!

This workshop is suitable for people who are interested in costume designing and does not require any level of theatrical knowledge. We highly encourage people who are interested in costume designing but have 0 experience to join! This workshop could also count as an experience to apply for costuming production roles for SUDS shows in the future!!!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our festivals officer (Luna) at sudsthewash@gmail.com

Acknowledgement of Country:
SUDS acknowledges that the University of Sydney and the Cellar Theatre reside on stolen land; the land of the Gadigal people of the Eora nation. As a society that exists to tell stories, it is important to acknowledge that stories were being told on this land for thousands of years before British colonisation.
SUDS pays respect to elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded – Always Was, Always Will Be Aboriginal Land.
